A benchmark for the Amarone category, which, together with Barolo and Brunello, makes up the aristocracy of the Italian wine world. The product of Masi's unrivalled expertise in the appassimento technique, whereby traditional grapes for the Valpolicella Classico area are laid out on bamboo racks to concentrate their aromas during the winter months".

Bottle condition, capsule excellent, label excellent, wine level high fill

from a .375, this is fully developed and open for business. nose is of slightly stewed fruit, cocoa, damp earth and a whiff of alcohol. palate reveals excellent acidity which keeps the wine fresh and lively, nothing overcooked or overly sweet here, and tertiary savoury notes aplenty. the 1/2 bottle format almost assuredly a factor in the development, but this is very good.
