About the wine

In the mid-1960s, an agreement was made between Joe Heitz and Tom May to source cabernet sauvignon fruit from May’s small Oakville vineyard for Heitz wines. Ever since 1966, Heitz Cellar has been crafting the now illustrious Martha’s Vineyard cabernet sauvignon, one of the three vineyard-designated cabernet sauvignons. Martha's Vineyard also hit the spot light when Steven Spurrier included it in his famous 1976 Judgement of Paris tasting. 2018 was an excellent vintage for California.

Typical blend, Cabernet Sauvignon. 75cl bottle. Abv 14%

Bottle condition, excellent still in its tissue with security tag.

Tasting Note 15/11/2025 - 94 Points

Tasted blind among 4 (one of which I knew would be a Heitz of some sort), this was obviously a Heitz Martha. A fragrant, expressive nose of eucalyptus, sandalwood, and linden, black and red fruit seeming to follow the exotic wood rather than leading the way. Well balanced. A reflection of its history while looking to the future simultaneously.
