Tasting Note 09/06/2019
Alive and very interesting, yet certainly over-mature.
Colour is good for the age, with a thick band of brown at the rim, but still good claret body of decent depth.
Bright nose, yet with mushrooms now joining the red cherry in the foreground. A touch of fennel in the background.
Quite feisty / sherbety acidity vies with the cherry on the palate, with mushroom / caramel sitting behind, and with a touch of ferrousity on the finish. No noticeable tannins.
Overall the acidity does unbalance the wine a little, yet that same acidity has preserved this rather well. Better with food, but the acidity isn't so strong as to preclude carrying on drinking the wine after the meal.
