The second wine of Chateau Talbot, which for the last century has been owned by Cordier Family The château takes its name from the Connétable Talbot, whom this wine is named after, an English soldier and governor of Guyenne who was defeated in battle by the French at Castillon in 1453. The 1996 vintage was good for the region.
Typical blend, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot. 75cl bottle. 12% ABV
Bottle condition, Capsule good, label good, wine level in neck
Critic tasting note:
(1996 vintage) "(1999) Smoky and savoury with a vegetal quality, earthy and animal aromas over spicy cherry fruit. Palate is balanced if a little lightweight, but quite elegant fruit and fine, silky tannins as well as some sweet oak in the finish."Â Tom Cannava
