Chateau Mouton Rothschild Vintage 1970

Château Mouton Rothschild is located in the commune of Pauillac in the Medoc, 30 miles (50km) northwest of the city of Bordeaux. The grand vin is among the most highly rated and priced wines in the world, and is generally regarded as the most exuberant and powerful of all Bordeaux. It was famously added to the First Growths set out in the 1855 classification in 1973, so when this wine was released in was technically a second growth. 1970 vintage was very good for the region producing wines that can still give pleasure today

I can’t recall ever having this particular vintage of Mouton before, but this was very nice tonight. Balanced with decent acidity, a lighter-bodied version of this wine, but not tired in any way. If I had this in my cellar I would be in no hurry to drink it.
