Formed as an ecclesiastical vineyard in 1662, it is one of the oldest estates in the Medoc, although its modern history began in 1917 when it was acquired by the Cordier family. A Cru Bourgeois that is considered by some critics to rival many Cru Classe wines particularly since 1975. The 2103 was a difficult one after frosts and hailstones plagued the vintage. The skill of the wine makers was tested. They are good wines.
Typical Blend, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc. 75cl Bottle. Abv 13%
Bottle condition, capsule good, label good, wine level in neck.
Tasting Note 26/09/2025 -87 Points
Picked up on the assumption that maybe when a painful bruiser in its youth meets a weak vintage, this can create a decent wine. In truth, a lot of these Cellartracker reviews aren’t too wide of the mark - yes, it is bitter, a little sour and the tannin is swamping the fruit. But, with a hearty steak, this can be redeemed and offers something one might generously called ‘traditional’. It’s not heavy, there is some powerful structure lurking there and there is a settlement of sorts.
