The property in the village of Bages takes the other part of its name from Thomas Lynch, a Bordeaux merchant of Irish lineage who owned the property from 1749 to 1824. It was rated a fifth growth in the Bordeaux classification of 1855, although the reputation of the property, now in the hands of the Cazes family, soared from 1945 after a string of excellent vintages. 1976 was not one of the great vintages. Good wines in their youth. Some have been a pleasant surprise recently.
Typical Blend, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot. 75cl Bottle. Abv% Not Stated.
Bottle condition, capsule good, label good, wine level top shoulder
Tasting Note 23/11/2025 - 90 Points
Great condition on this bottle — dark red/black color with only moderate brown on the edges. Big dark berry nose fresh out of the bottle. Some volatile acidity. Pleasant tea / mushroom finish. Berries faded over time, definitely don’t decant. It’s not going to get any better, but it’s surprisingly good now.
