Chateau Leoville Barton Vintage 1986

This Saint-Julien estate is well regarded and produces consistently good wines with a reputation for doing well in the lesser years. The 1986 vintage was very good and stooped just short of being great.

Typical blend, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot. 75cl bottle. Abv 13%

Bottle condition, capsule good, label good, wine level base of neck.

Full ruby. Classic classical St Julien, restrained cedar and sandlewood, blackcurrant leaf starting to show some redcurrant, and cigar wrapper. Cool-fruited palate, silky, the structure now with tannin fully resolved and acidity providing line and freshness on the moderate to full length. A floaty persistence. Harmonious. Lovely with the Sunday sirloin of beef, and afterwards.
