Château Langoa Barton is located in the Saint Julien appelation of the Medoc. In the official 1855 Bordeaux classification it was ranked as a third growth. Akin to many wines produced in the area, Langoa Barton is Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant. It does however have more Merlot than its adjacent sibling estate, Leoville Barton. 1987 was a reasonable vintage, but in a lighter style.
Typical blend, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc. 75cl bottle. Abv 12%
Bottle condition, capsule good, label has a piece missing, but all the important information is visible. Wine level very top shoulder
Tasting Note 16/01/2016
Red fruit, earth, cedar and some vegetal notes on the nose. The lean palate is dominated by the acidity, with some drying fruit left. Civilized tannins and a medium finish, the fruit manifesting itself a bit in the end. Past its peak, austere, but still drinkable. Actually surprisingly so.
