Chateau Lafon Rochet Vintage 1996

This Saint-Estephe estate was classified as a fourth growth in 1855, but buy the 50's it had fallen in to disrepair. Purchased by Guy Tennerson in 1960 who set about restoring it to its rightful status. The 1996 vintage was excellent across Bordeaux, but particularly for the left bank wines of the Medoc>

Typical blend, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot. 75cl bottle. Abv 12.5%

Bottle condition, capsule good, label good, wine level in neck

Decanted for 1.5 hrs which might have been too long to be honest. Next bottle we will decant for 45 min. Started off great but lost its luster after three hours. Still enjoyed by most of the dinner guests and my favorite wine of the night. You can see and taste its age but there is plenty of life left and can’t wait to try this again in a year or two.
