Château La Dominique is an estate in Saint Emilionknown for its Merlot based red wine. It was rated Grand cru Classé in the official 1955 classification of Saint-Émilion. Records for La Dominique date back to 1690, although it was first mentioned as a wine estate with its current name in 1785. The name is derived from Dominica in the Caribbean where the owner made his fortune. The estate's reputation dipped in the first half of the 20th Century and in 1969 it was bought by French industrialist Clément Fayat. Sustained investment brought about a return to form. 2005 was an excellent vintage for the region.

Typical blend, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon. 75cl bottle. Abv 13%

Bottle condition, capsule excellent, Label excellent, wine level in neck

Tasting Note 01/01/2026 -93 Points

I have never drunk this wine before and it was not what I was expecting but I have a glass beside me now, so here goes. Impenetrable colour; somewhat closed dark perfumed wood on the nose. Quite intriguing. Still a lot of soft tannin in the mouth, but I don’t mind that - a change from the climate fruit driven recent wines. Good lasting power.
