About the wine.
Château Haut-Brion is the oldest of Bordeaux's five first growths, and one of the most famous wines in the world. Located in Pessac-Leognan, south of the city of Bordeaux, the château is rather far removed from its counterparts, all of which are found in the Médoc. 1976 was a reasonable good vintage for Bordeaux, some rain at harvest time leading to the wines being generally lighter than in the best vintages.
Typical blend, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot.
Bottle condition, capsule a little corroded, label good, wine level midway of the engraved button
Tasting Note 30/08/2024 -95 Points
A great Bordeaux that met my expectations and even more. Drank from a magnum, the wine was on the finesse, like drinking silk with a hint of tobacco in a dream that lingered all night. Amazingly the wine stayed in great shape the whole evening
