This Saint-Julien estate ranked as a second growth in the 1955 Bordeaux Classification and It is widely regarded as a classic Saint-Julien wine, and is known for its sensible pricing. Originaly named Chateau Gruaud withe the Larose being added in 1771 when the property was taken over by Monsieur de Larose. The 1957 vintage was a generally a good one for Bordeaux. The wines were quite high in acidity giving them longevity.
Typical blend, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot. 75cl bottle Abv % not known.

Top shoulder fill and excellent appearance. Ripe black fruit, cassis, asphalt, a hint of green, black pepper and VA. Good concentration, rustic tannins, good acidity and a medium finish. The nose is pretty straightforward and the palate is rustic and flat.
