Château Desmirail is a Bordeaux producer on the left bank of the Gironde estuary, known for its Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant blends. It is based in the Margaux appellation and was designated a Third Growth in the 1855 classification.

The property was founded by and named for Jean Desmirail who established the estate towards the end of the 17th Century. Several years before the 1855 classification, Desmirail was bought by Théophile Sipière, then the manager at Chateau Margaux.

Sipière is attributed with elevating Desmirail to its third growth status, while Margaux was named a first growth. The modern Desmirail property is owned by Denis Lurton of the Lurton family. The 2012 vintage is not regarded as a classic, but some good wines were made.

Tasting Note 08/11/2025

Plums, earth, leather, sweet spices are dialled back, a little blackcurrant slight meaty underpin. Juicy, flesh, fruit and black tea, gum gripping tannins, fresh and fleshy, pleasing.
