About the wine

A firm Wine Cru favourite.Château Caronne Ste Gemme is an estate just south of Saint-Julien in the Haut Medoc. Its grand vin is a classic Bordeaux blend, and was classified as a Cru Bourgeois  Supérieur of Haut-Médoc in 1932 and Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel in 1966. Traditionaly made and performs well in all types of vintages. 2018 was an excellent vintage for the region.

Typical blend, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot.

Bottle condition, capsule excellent, label excellent, wine level in neck

Nose - cigar, blackcurrant, violet. In the mouth scrunchy fruit, a little oak, cinnamon, smooth tannins. Actually I think this has moved on and is really quite pleasant for the money. First of 12 bottles. I would value it more highly than £12 and expect it to continue to develop over the next 5 years.
