Chateau Caronne Ste Gemme Vintage 2016

A firm Wine Cru favourite.Château Caronne Ste Gemme is an estate just south of Saint-Julien in the Haut Medoc. Its grand vin is a classic Bordeaux blend, and was classified as a Cru Bourgeois  Supérieur of Haut-Médoc in 1932 and Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel in 1966. Traditional made and performs well in all types of vintages 2016 was a successful year for the region.

Typical blend, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot.

Bottle condition, capsule excellent, label excellent, wine level in neck

Perhaps a little unfair on this. It is savoury and does lack all the vibrant fruit of the 2020 and 2019. It is dry and a little joyless. But there is some quality here and, if one were being generous, one could imagine the secondary notes in another 5-10 years might be quite enjoyable.
