Producer Note
The 2003 vintage is atypical and somewhat unique. It was marked by an early harvest superseding the record vintage of 1893 and also by exceptionally long sunny periods and high temperatures. These conditions could have created inconsistent levels of maturity due to water stress on dry and filtered soils. Thanks to the soil type at Belgrave, with its clay sub-soil and clay outcrops on the foot of the hillocks, the ripening levels were remarkable. This was confirmed by the harvests that were spread out for the various grape varieties. The works performed in the vineyard were perfectly adapted to these extreme conditions and helped protect the quality of the berries as muchas possible
