Chateau Belgrave Vertical Tasting Package

This well regarded Haut Medoc estate, classified as a 5th growth in 1855, vineyards border Saint Julien and the wine often displays the characteristics of the commune.

This package includes one bottle each of three great vintages 2009, 2010 and 2011. An excellent opportunity to try them side by side.

Typical blend, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot. 75cl bottle. Abv 13%

Producer Tasting Notes

2009. The wine is almost black in colour, displaying dark red glints and a delicate purple rim. The complex, intensely fresh bouquet opens on toasty notes, enhanced by powerful black fruit aromas. The wine is all-enveloping and characterised by an elegant, powerful, tight structure and silky, concentrated tannins. It evolves towards an impressively long finish, revealing attractive oaky notes. Magnificent Belgrave, very Saint-Julien in style.

2010. The wine is almost black, and deep. It reveals a complex bouquet, though still restrained by the wine’s youth, and exudes powerful, fruit-laden, spicy notes with a hint of mint. The wine is generous, silky and very well balanced on the palate, and gains structure from the extremely fine-grained Cabernet tannins, which envelop the palate and are present throughout the tasting. The body, structure and freshness of the wine are remarkably wellbalanced,
and add to the exceptionally long finish. An extremely elegant Belgrave wine, born of a vintage of great ageing potential.

2011. Attractive, deep garnet in colour. Highly perfumed on the nose offering complex aromas of fresh red fruit notes, spices and precious woods. A fine tannic structure for such a generous, velvety, highly-concentrated palate. This Belgrave 2011 reveals freshness and elegance in true Saint-Julien style – a very attractive wine!
