About the wine
A wine from the Borie Manoux stable and run, since 1961, by Emile Casteja. A traditional claret and a firm favourite of ours. The 1971 vintage was overshadowed by 1970, which was better in the Medoc, but there are some good wines.
Typical Blend, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot. 75cl Bottle. Abv% Not Stated
Bottle condition, capsule good, label good, wine level high shoulder
Tasting Note 25/01/2025 - 91 Points
This bottle was a wonderful surprise. Its light tawny color showed the clarity of a wine well preserved. The nose was classic and mature, with notes of smoked meat, forest floor, and a touch of dried leaves.
On the palate, there was a subtle hint of dry sour cherries, supported by resolved tannins and a balanced structure. The wine had good intensity and a pleasantly long finish.
It continued to open up over 45 minutes, gaining more character as we enjoyed it. A memorable experience with this well-aged Pauillac.
