Château Bastor-Lamontagne is based in the commune of Preignac, in Bordeaux's famed sweet white wine region of Sauternes 45km (27 miles) southeast of Bordeaux city. Two sweet white wines are produced on the estate: the grand vin, Château Bastor-Lamontagne; and the second wine, Les Remparts de Bastor-Lamontagne.
The estate boasts 53 hectares (130 acres) of vineyard, planted predominantly to Semilion (80 percent) with the remaining 20 percent, Sauvignon Blanc. While production is geared towards the classic, botryst-affected berries for sweet wine production, the estate has a history of producing occasionaly dry white wines, often from Sauvignon Blanc. 2007 was a very good vintage for the sweet wines of Sauternes.
Typical blend, Semilion, Sauvignon Blanc. 75cl bottle Abv 12%
Bottle condition, capsule good, label good, wine level in neck
Tasting Note 26/05/2025 - 89 Points
Discovered a couple of bottles of this at the bottom of a box. I’ve had them over 10 years. Healthy light colour, almonds nose, lots of botrytis. Light apricot and almond, medium sweet, more botrytis in the flavour. Decent Sauternes.
