About the wine

I've had a soft spot for this Sauternes as it was the first sweet wine from Bordeaux that I tasted and was readily available. The 1997 vintage is not highly regarded for the wines of Bordeaux, but for the sweet wines it was a very good vintage.

Typical blend, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc. 73cl Bottle. Abv not stated.

Bottle condition, capsule good, label good, wine level base of neck

Tawny in color. Nose of orange peels, prunes, and hint of raisins. Tastes of prunes, orange zest, and hint of autumnal spices. Interesting wine, with great acidity and nice fruit for the age. Compliments deserts like bread pudding and strudel nicely. Drink now and over next 3-5 years.
