About the wine

Château Latour’s Grand Vin is made exclusively from “vieilles vignes”, an average of 60 years-old, in the Enclos. Gravettes, Sarmentier, Pièce de Château... these are the names of some of the finest plots that express the character of the terroir and forge the wine’s identity every year. The 1952 vintage produced hard tannic wines that took an age to soften, similar to 1975. Chateau Latour is known for its powerful wines.

Typical blend, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot. 75cl Bottle. Abv% Not stated.

Bottle condition, capsule good, label excellent, wine level mid shoulder

Tasting Note 23/05/2024 -96 Points

What a pleasure - not a wine I'd ever expected to try, and it was both alive and kicking (and it had had a three hour decant to boot). Great nose, with crackling bonfire, sweet decay and spicy ginger. Unsurprisingly tertiary on the palate too: toffee, smoke, even caramelised banana! Such a long finish - incredibly soft and seductive. Mega wine.
