Chateau Cissac Vintage 2015

A traditional claret much loved by critics and consumers alike. 2015 vintage was very successful for Bordeaux and wider France.

Typical Blend Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot. 75cl Bottle. Abv 13%.

Bottle condition, capsule good, label good, wine level in neck

The first of a dozen, bought en primeur and stored under perfect conditions. Decanted a couple of hours before tasting (not long enough). Dark fruit on the nose with hints of cedar. The palate is very dry (not a hint of sweetness) with mainly blackcurrant fruit and still dominated by typical Cissac mouth-puckering astringency, tannins/cedar, and acidity. It benefitted from time in the glass/decanter, softening over 8 hours. The palate was long and rich at this point.
It came into its own with rare roast sirloin when it was richer, softer, better balanced, and much less austere. This wine needs food - wine has developed over centuries to partner food (especially in wine regions like Bordeaux) not simply to be tasted in a sterile setting.
This is still young for a Cissac (we are enjoying vintages 5 - 10 years older than this at present) so we will explore the rest of the case over the next decade.
