The first vineyards were established in the early 1600s and were managed by successive generations of the d'Alesme family. In 1810, the family sold the château and over the next few centuries, the estate passed through several hands before eventually becoming the property of the Perrodo family in 2006. Nevertheless the foil seems to seal the wine well as it is alive and kicking at age 57 as you would hope for from a very good 60s Bdx vintage. Still a mid garnet in the glass with only slight bricking. Sous bois, still a good core of dry fruit, leather, just a touch of moist cellar, tannins fully resolved, fairly short finish. Holds up over a good 90 min in the open bottle. Very typical mature Bdx from a 3rd growth that must have been under the radar for at least 100 years….
